CHIC: Optical Lenses.

12.30.2012

Au revoir 2012 and Bonjour to 2013. I can't believe how quickly time flew by this year. Feels like I just got used to writing out 2012 on everything and yet tomorrow night, it will be gone. With the new year approaching, I as well as many of you are already making plans for the coming year. I enjoy writing out my goals and aspirations and continuously be checking things off as they occur. The feeling I have to look back and see everything I was able to accomplish is extremely rewarding. One thing that always goes on my list is a sort of "make-over" or "re-vamping". Never anything drastic, my mind can't handle (aka pulling a Miley and bleaching/chopping off my locks, no thank you!). I speak more of simple changes like trying a more dramatic eyeliner color or wearing red lips more often.

One change I made this past year that I have enjoyed most of all was purchasing a new pair of frames. I wear contacts but something about wearing my glasses around felt way more chic. I tried so many pairs on and decided that a tortoise shell pattern looked best and didn't feel so harsh like a jet black frame. Proportion is key. You don't want frames that are too large both width and height wise. I decided to go for a square design but I had a hard time choosing between squared off and rounded so I bought some round reading glasses as well. Which brings me to another point. Optical lenses can be a quite pricey so a less expensive alternative is reading lenses, which can in fact maintain your healthy eye sight with all those hours in front of a computer screen while looking chic.

These are some of my favorite frames. Oliver's People is well known for their fantastic frames that are simple yet elegantly designed. Elizabeth and James makes some great pairs as well for a more affordable price. Thanks to my younger brother, I also discovered the great company Warby Parker. They have so many great styles and colors and allow you to try on 5 pairs at home to see which one you like best! Their prices are great too and include the lenses. I'm thinking of getting a second pair from them because of their fantastic pricing so make sure to check them out.
