Internet Roundup: 9.27.13.

9.27.2013

1. Read this interview by GARANCE DORE with Creative Director of Marie Claire and Project Runway Judge NINA GARCIA. Not only am I a big fan of Marie Claire Magazine and Project Runway but her style books that came out are really great as well. In this interview we get a wonderful glimpse into the life of Garcia  and how she came into the fashion world. I was really inspired so I highly suggest you read it. INTERVIEW.

2. New music discovery. Her name is BANKS

3. If you haven't heard yet RICK OWENS decided to nix the models and traditional runway show. He dressed step groups from different parts of the United States and had them do routines in groups wearing his clothes. It's absolutely fantastic. I love that he took this risk and made such a great show. See the outfits as well as the whole show HERE.

4. Tis the season, for Pumpkin everything and I am not one to complain. I'm a huge huge fan of Ina Garten aka The Barefoot Contessa and I have yet to make a recipe of hers that I haven't loved. This Pumpkin Roulande is so perfect for this time of season and it comes out very moist and delicious. You will definitely want to try BAKING THIS.

Have a lovely weekend darlings! I'm off to start enjoying birthday celebrations.

Currently Lusting: 9.26.13.

9.26.2013

Welp, my birthday is on Saturday and I can't believe how another year has flown by. Seriously, where is the stop button because I can't handle it. Thankfully I've been keeping busy and really been enjoying life lately. I know, it sounds corny once I say it, er, write it out...but I've really been blessed with some wonderful opportunities lately and I'm very thankful. Back to birthdays, I've been lusting a couple things lately and I'm hoping my parent's read this post...hiiii mom and dad! I'm mostly wanting some NEW GLASSES because the older I'm getting the worse my eyesight is getting which is actually really sad. I think I spend far too much time in front of a computer screen. ugh.

ONE: I'm so obsessed with these 30 Rock Quotes, it's unreal. Some of Liz Lemon's best lines and the designs are super cute and modern.

TWO: This J.Crew Varsity Jacket is really great. I tried it on at the store and didn't want to take it off. It's a little sportier than I normally go for but I think it could translate into a bit preppier with the right styling which is great. Unfortunately they sold out in this deep grey and only had navy left at the store so I'm debating if I want to spend the money on it.

THREE: These glasses are very chic. I like that they are simple and are not crazy thick in comparison to others I have found. I love the shape and the variety of colors it comes in. I'm hoping to order my pair soon. I'm seriously going blind and I desperately need these!

FOUR: BKR makes the best water bottles. They are glass bottles with a sillicone sleeve that comes in a variety of really sweet colors. I just bought one in the color Chip and it's a great size to carry around with you. They are also super easy to clean and don't leak.  Hooray!

Can't wait for this weekend. Hope everyone is getting through their week ok!

xx

(Sidenote: is it just me or are images with white backgrounds showing up a bit grey on blogger? Or am I just going crazy?)

Fashion: Behind the Scenes at Roberto Cavalli Spring 2014.

9.25.2013

So much print. So much beading. So, Cavalli. His SPRING 2014 collection was beautiful, with lots of detail work and stunning prints. I struggle with loving prints, being a petite girl they sort of take over far too much but I love Cavalli's prints. They are so natural and subtle in a way even when a shirt is entirely mixed prints. The details in beading are truly a work of art. I loved these images of the backstage madness before the runway which gives you a better sense of how the pieces move and sit on the body in their natural state.

Fashion: Inside Chanel.

9.24.2013

I recently came upon the website INSIDE CHANEL. A beautiful website dedicated to the incredible couturier Coco Chanel and the story behind her iconic fashion house. We see the journey from the creation of CHANEL N•5, to the direction Chanel has taken under it's current head designer Karl Lagerfeld and how he has tried to keep the essence of what Coco started. The videos are absolutely incredible. I watched them all last night in one sitting and truly have a new respect and admiration for Coco Chanel. She was one incredible woman. Take a look at the first video below where we find out the story behind Chanel N•5.

Check out the rest of the chapters HERE! How much more do you love Chanel after watching these?? Her story is really something special.

Celebrity: 65th Emmy Fashion.

9.23.2013

Last night aired the 65th Emmy awards and it was all a bit confusing to me. Normally, I'm all for award shows. I round up my parent's, usually eat dinner in front of the tv with a glass of wine, and live tweet the show with some sort of sarcastic remarks, makes me feel like I'm a part of it, ya know? Like I'm sitting right next to George Clooning laughing about how they served Veuve instead of Dom Perignon. Well, last night seemed all too...sad. Neil Patrick Harris is a good host but he seems to make all his humor Broadway related which is obviously perfect for the Tony's - which is what I think he thought he was hosting? Too much song and dance for my taste. Anyways, there should have been more Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in my opinion and way less strange tributes to, uh, the airing of the JFK assassination and a weird cover of the Beatles by Carrie Underwood...

The fashion was weak and boring to me too. People were raving about gowns that I feel like I could purchase at Nordstrom in the 'not designer' section. No real 'wow' factors this year. However, there were a couple ladies that stood out to me so these are my favorite looks from the 65th ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS.

1. Kerry Washington in Marchesa || 2. Rose Byrne in a custom Calvin Klein || 3. Emilia Clarke in Dona Karan Atelier ||  Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren

Did any of you catch the Emmy's last night? What did everybody think about the fashion?
