Fashion: Inside Chanel.

9.24.2013

I recently came upon the website INSIDE CHANEL. A beautiful website dedicated to the incredible couturier Coco Chanel and the story behind her iconic fashion house. We see the journey from the creation of CHANEL N•5, to the direction Chanel has taken under it's current head designer Karl Lagerfeld and how he has tried to keep the essence of what Coco started. The videos are absolutely incredible. I watched them all last night in one sitting and truly have a new respect and admiration for Coco Chanel. She was one incredible woman. Take a look at the first video below where we find out the story behind Chanel N•5.

Check out the rest of the chapters HERE! How much more do you love Chanel after watching these?? Her story is really something special.

I've always had an über fascination with skate culture ever since I could remember. There was one point in middle school that I owned about twenty pairs of Vans in every style and color. I was obsessed to say the least. However, my major growth spurt came in and suddenly my beautiful Vans collection was dunzo. None of them fit me anymore and it was one of the biggest tragedies of my lifetime. I knew I wasn't going to be able to acquire all of them again so I nixed on the vans and got into Nike's and Converse as my 'athletic shoe' (ha, athletic, as in going to the grocery store with my mom to pick out candy...). Well, I still have a love towards skaters and vans just go hand-in-hand so in college I purchased some bright red ones that I still own and love. However, they are clearly a not-so-subtle color so I was prepared to buy some plain black or white ones and then I came across these beauties in New York. Some guy, yes, a guy, was wearing them while he tried to sell me some Sandro espadrilles and I was more excited about his shoes then the ones I was trying on so, I put those babies down and asked him where he got his shoes (rather my friend did, I was too shaken by their awesomeness). He said they were from Vans recent collection, white and black leather snakeskin shoes. YES. I knew I needed them. Welp, for some odd reason, I forgot about those amazing shoes (I KNOW), and when I remembered about them a couple weeks ago I searched for hours online trying to find them. FINALLY, at two am one morning, I found them at a skateshop based in Utah. I quickly ordered my size (well, half size up, unfortunately that was all they had. wahh) but I didn't care. They were mine. They arrived in the mail today and I am thrilled. They are a neutral color and are going to look great with black skinnies and a loose t-shirt and cardi. I guess Vans will always have my heart (but I'm still planning on purchasing these bad boys too, I can't resist)

Surfs up.

Can't say I have any knowledge what-so-ever on surfing or surfboards but if someone handed me one of these bad boys, I wouldn't hesitate. Possibly adding a shriek of excitement. I mean, double Cs in black and white out in the ocean? What will they come up with next!

F.Y.I: Daily Make-up.

MY DAILY MAKE-UP:

1. Shiseido Compact ; I love this compact! It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and isn't super matted so the skin can maintain a nice glow. Also, this is the only brand I have found so far that makes Olive shades so I use O60 which is the darkest shade they have.

2. Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Bronzer ; Laura Mercier is my favorite brand when it comes to natural looking colours. No one ever wants to walk out of the house looking like an oompa loompa (minus snooki of course) and I love the shade of her bronzer. The mineral powder form too is nice because you can have real control of how much you put on and is easy to build on the darker you get this summer. You can find it here

3. Contour Cheek Brush ; I bought this brush in a set a long time ago and I really like the shape because I can contour my cheeks very nicely with it. It's also great for using dry and blending your make-up. Similar here and here

4. Chanel Intense Eye Pencil ; This pencil is great for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes. It instantly brightens up the eyes and makes them stand out. When I don't have a lot of time to apply make-up, I sometimes will wear a little bit of this on the inner corners of my eyes and add a bit of mascara and my face looks instantly awake and refreshed.
