Beauty: Grunge Make-up.

9.13.2013

Burgundy is my ultimate favorite color for fall. So rich and compliments skin tones so beautifully. A great pair of skinnies in burgundy or a silk shirt looks trés chic but put it on your lips and it is an immediate vampy/grunge look. I love the way a lip color can make such a big transformation and a deep color is a great way to change up a look without spending tons of money. So, welcome to the dark side darlings, courtesy of the gorgeous DIANNA AGRON star of this weekends 'go-to' movie THE FAMILY.

Beauty: YSL Baby Doll.

4.09.2013

Yves Saint Laurent has come out with a new mascara named BABY DOLL. Promising volume and a clean definition with it's new brush and formula. Baby Doll's add campaign is starring the ever so young, beautiful and wild Cara Delevingne. I love the campaign as well as the new Baby Doll color. A beautiful hue of pink fit for any woman. I definitely want to try the lip stain because YSL's is my absolute favorite as well as this new magical mascara. I hope it lives up to it's expectation!

Beauty: How To Nail Appliqué.

2.26.2013

I posted this pic yesterday on Instagram of my new Lace Appliqué nails by Essie. I absolutely love them and knew I had to share a tutorial on how to properly apply them.

Beauty: Bangin' Bangs.

2.03.2013

It's sort-of a bit excessive how many times a day I ask myself, "To bang, or not to bang?" hair that is. I am extremely content with the length of my hair at the moment. It's taken me since freshman year of high-school to grow it out when I one day decided I wanted short hair like Lizzie McGuire (thanks Hillary Duff, I blame you). It's finally long and layered and I love the versitilaty that comes with long hair. Buns, pony tails and braids galore.

BUT, yes, a big but, I still sometimes crave a change. Should I chop it off a la Elizabeth Olsen? Color it? or just get bangs? I had blunt bangs and stick straight hair for a couple months during my sophomore year of college and really enjoyed them but, I think my timing was off because it was Fall/Winter and the wind was out of control which meant hair in my eyes/mouth, I had to wash my face like five times a day so my forehead didn't break out and having to take an extra 10 minutes with a mini straightener to style them just wasn't in the books for me. So I braided them, pinned them back, and let them grow out. Mais, I think I'm ready again for the responsibility, for real this time. What really took me to this point is this amazing beauty editorial for Elle España. These bangs are the perfect length, they look great straight as well as textured and wispy. I'm obsessed.

Weekend Roundup.

1.28.2013

Bonjour mes amies! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had a special weekend spending time with family for my younger (but very much taller) cousin's birthday as well as lots of reading for my Seminar class on Manet. I'm absolutely loving this class right now and I'm really enjoying finding out more about this brilliant artist as well as reading a few tons of essays written on him as well. So curling up in bed with this book Saturday morning was lovely. I've also been getting super excited for Valentine's Day and I'm starting to narrow it down to the fact that I get to wear pink and red in the middle of winter season and stuff my face with chocolate and candy hearts. Yeah, that's about right.

Well, back to the books it is for me! Here's to a great start to your week, HAPPY MONDAY!

Beauty: Le Faux.

1.23.2013

Part of me has always cringed at the sound of false lashes. Maybe because of it's association with words/names like Vegas stripper, club girl, Halloween, Paris Hilton, you get the picture. So, clearly I was in great surprise at the make-up backstage and coming down the runway for the Gucci Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The models looked bright eyed with beautifully long lashes and subtle, natural looking make-up. The look is simply beautiful. The faux lashes are big in the most perfect sense, widening the eye and paired with the nude lip and a natural toned smokey eye the look is stunning. This could definitely be an amp-up for an everyday look.

Girl Crush: Shanina Shaik.

7.17.2012

May I introduce you to Shanina Shaik. The gorgeous 21 year old model from Melbourne, Australia. This girl is stunning! Those eyes, that skin, like whoa! I'm excited to follow her career, I'm sure Miss Shaik will be incredible.

Colour Spotlight: Neon Accents.

4.09.2012

NEON. Love love love adding touches of neon colours. They instantly make any outfit fun and I like how the bright colours make my skin look tanner. I'm dying for some neon shoes this summer and I seriously need to run to American Apparel and grab me some of those neon nail polishes. Supa' sauceyy.

F.Y.I: Daily Make-up.

3.21.2012

MY DAILY MAKE-UP:

1. Shiseido Compact ; I love this compact! It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and isn't super matted so the skin can maintain a nice glow. Also, this is the only brand I have found so far that makes Olive shades so I use O60 which is the darkest shade they have.

2. Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Bronzer ; Laura Mercier is my favorite brand when it comes to natural looking colours. No one ever wants to walk out of the house looking like an oompa loompa (minus snooki of course) and I love the shade of her bronzer. The mineral powder form too is nice because you can have real control of how much you put on and is easy to build on the darker you get this summer. You can find it here

3. Contour Cheek Brush ; I bought this brush in a set a long time ago and I really like the shape because I can contour my cheeks very nicely with it. It's also great for using dry and blending your make-up. Similar here and here

4. Chanel Intense Eye Pencil ; This pencil is great for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes. It instantly brightens up the eyes and makes them stand out. When I don't have a lot of time to apply make-up, I sometimes will wear a little bit of this on the inner corners of my eyes and add a bit of mascara and my face looks instantly awake and refreshed.
