Freedom in Solitude.

3.31.2012

The fairy tale began with sisters Elizabeth and Isabella who wanted to channel their inner gypsy spirits into a collection filled with leathers, metals, and feathers. They design accessories, clothes, and shoes. Based in Australia this duo of free spirited ladies have really hit the mark on a cool neo-hippie/boho style. Thankfully, even though they are half a continent away, you can shop online and they ship worldwide!

Essentials: Beach Day.

3.30.2012

Beach Essentials.

Whether you are headed to Saint Tropez or staying stateside in Cali, the beach is where we all want to be. I absolutely LOVE being on the beach and near the ocean. Unfortunately while everyone is currently on Spring Break and mostly at the beach right now, I got stuck here in Boulder doing mad amounts of studying for a midterm I have next week. (Thanks Professor Albert!) Regardless, the sun and sand are still on my mind so I wanted to share some great essentials for your next vaycay, beach side.

First off, you can never have too many swimsuits. I love these two because they are super feminine and flirty. The one piece is Miu-Miu in a light pink and the two piece is ChloĆ©. I love the scalloped edges on the ChloĆ© swimsuit and it's a great size for tanning.

Next, bring a pretty cover-up for when you want to head for a lunch somewhere in between coats of sunscreen. I'm a huge fan of prints when it comes to beachwear so of course I have to lean towards the queen of all prints, Diane Von Furstenburg. This blue print beach dress is great for just slipping on. I love the long-in-back, short-in-front design. It's also pretty versatile, you can dress it up if you add a nice leather belt around and tie it in a bow.

Colour Spotlight: Pale Pink.

3.28.2012

J'adore!
Nothing says spring time like pastel colours and what better way to welcome this pretty weather with a hint of pale pink. It's so subtle that even a head to toe look doesn't look overwhelming.
I'm smitten over T by Alexander Wang pale pink dress with the cutouts from his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. It's so feminine and edgy at the same time.
For those of you who are lucky enough to have blonde tresses, try adding a touch of pink to your ends or even at the back/bottom of your hair to add a pretty touch of colour when you pull your hair up in a pony or a braid!

Anyone tried pale pink in their wardrobe yet?

Minimale Animale.

3.26.2012

Talk about super scandy.

It's that time of year again. When we shed our winter clothes and everyone is itching to frolic on the beach and turn our pasty white skin golden. Of course, you need the perfect swimsuit to do so. Minimale Animale Swimwear makes beautiful swimwear in provocative silhouettes. Sexy and edgy, a perfect combination of both.

My Week via Instagram.

1. I received the April issue of Marie Claire magazine featuring Leighton Meester whom I LOVE. I haven't had enough time to sit down and read through it all yet but I'm definitely making some time now that I'm on break.

2. I just bought some new Essie nail polish that is the perfect mix of red and orange for spring time and this Low Luv ring in a vintage gold color. It's a fun ring with the perfect edge. You can find it here.

3 & 4.  I did some shopping with my Mother this weekend and we stumbled upon Two Hands Paperie. It's a beautiful paper store that is bursting with elegant stationary, art books, and anything and everything you could want for paper options. As an artist, I literally was in a mini heaven. We spent about an hour just browsing and I ended up purchasing some much needed moleskin notebooks. I will be back their soon though to buy nice papers and for some of the most whimsical celebration cards.

Hope everyone had a fantastic week and weekend and Happy Monday!

Le Weekend.

3.23.2012

I am officially on Spring Break kiddies and couldn't be happier! I really need this break from classes. So far I have had a successful start. I went and saw The Hunger Games last night (which was SO good) and this morning I got to go to my favourite breakfast placed called Snooze to catch up and say ta ta for now to my best friend.

Unfortunately, It won't be all fun and games for me this break. I have to work on photo projects, figure out my schedule for next semester, study for a midterm, and work on a research paper. ugh. At least I can do it outside while enjoying the sun and getting a much needed tan.
But before I start with all that, I will definitely be enjoying today and tomorrow with good company, celebrating my dear mother's birthday and catching up on some much needed sleep.

How's everyone else's weekend looking like?

What to Wear: Movie Night.

3.22.2012

Finally! The Hunger Games is here. I'm so so so excited! I got my tickets and I'm going at midnight to see it with my younger brother. Anyone else super stoked almostpeeingtheirpants excited?!
I plan on dressy comfy because I will be waiting in line to see it hours beforehand and there's nothing worse than camping out and not feeling comfortable. But don't worry, I wouldn't be caught dead in sweat pants.

Movie Night

1 // 2 // 3

1. Dark denim skinny jeans. My favorite are Free People's because they don't look like ugly "jeggings" but have just the right amount of elasticity and weight.

2. Comfy sweater top. No doubt in my mind the air conditioning will probably be blasting so you don't want to be the annoying girl commenting on how cold it is. It's not a bad idea to bring along a cute light scarf as well.

3. Wear some fashionable sneaks. Definitely comfortable and high top styles looks very cute with skinny jeans.

Don't forget to bring snickity-snacks (plenty of sour patch kids for me please) and something to keep you distracted if you are crazy enough to wait in line like I will be. (Note to self: Charge ipad)

Also check out an interview my cousin did with part of the cast here!

F.Y.I: Daily Make-up.

3.21.2012

MY DAILY MAKE-UP:

1. Shiseido Compact ; I love this compact! It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and isn't super matted so the skin can maintain a nice glow. Also, this is the only brand I have found so far that makes Olive shades so I use O60 which is the darkest shade they have.

2. Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Bronzer ; Laura Mercier is my favorite brand when it comes to natural looking colours. No one ever wants to walk out of the house looking like an oompa loompa (minus snooki of course) and I love the shade of her bronzer. The mineral powder form too is nice because you can have real control of how much you put on and is easy to build on the darker you get this summer. You can find it here

3. Contour Cheek Brush ; I bought this brush in a set a long time ago and I really like the shape because I can contour my cheeks very nicely with it. It's also great for using dry and blending your make-up. Similar here and here

4. Chanel Intense Eye Pencil ; This pencil is great for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes. It instantly brightens up the eyes and makes them stand out. When I don't have a lot of time to apply make-up, I sometimes will wear a little bit of this on the inner corners of my eyes and add a bit of mascara and my face looks instantly awake and refreshed.

Colour Spotlight: Mint.

3.20.2012

Minty. I really am fascinated with this colour. It's perfect for this Spring season and can be paired with many options from dark to light denims to crisp whites. I discovered this mint green jumper sweater after seeing an image of Kanye West wearing it at fashion week and to be honest, I didn't think it looked half bad on him. So I did a little research and found that it came from the Acne Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
The sweater is a cotton cable knit so it's perfect for the somewhat chilly days that Spring can bring but it is the perfect colour to light up your wardrobe.
